Community Engagement
The development of Hill of Finavon wind cluster represents a significant investment opportunity for the local area and could impact indirectly on the demand for local services during the construction phases. It also provides the opportunity for ongoing community benefits during the operational phase.
The construction cost of a wind project similar in size to Hill of Finavon is estimated to be £9.5M, with about 20% (£1.9M) of this being invested within the local community in terms of contracts being placed with local businesses from electrical and civil engineering companies to fencers and hoteliers.
Kilmac Energy is also planning to deliver an annual community fund of £25k per annum, which will be indexed linked throughout the lifetime of the project. Through ongoing liaison with the surrounding community and the Community Council our aim is to set up a community trust to receive and administer this fund.
Kilmac has a track record of supporting local community initiatives annually, such as local sporting clubs throughout Scotland, charities, rugby clubs, gymnastics, football clubs, including Dundee Football Club.
